There are a limited number of spots available for this free opportunity
Registration is open for the Class of 2025
Step One
Step One involves going through the registration process. Once you fill in the initial form, you will receive a questionnaire to help your coach know more about who you are. Be sure to check your email for next steps. When you register, you must pick an adult accountability partner who will receive updates on your progress and be able to encourage you along the way. Within a day of registering, you will receive your online career assessment.
Step Two
After receiving the Career Direct Assessment, you will be given two weeks to complete the test. This assessment will be taken online and at your own pace. You can take breaks in between sections. The test will identify key traits in your personality, interests, skills, and values and match those traits with career options. This will help you determine your career path after high school. Once you complete the test, you will be allowed to select your career coach and when to meet for the assessment review meeting.
Step Three
The assessment review meeting will take place after you have completed the assessment. This will take place in a group setting at your school or online via zoom. During this session, you will be guided through your assessment results as you receive a better understanding of how you are gifted and wired for work. This meeting will last up to 60 minutes and you will receive a copy of your assessment report to keep. After this meeting, you will enter the training phase.
Step Four
Before your group coaching session, you will be invited into an online community with other MPS seniors in the program. This online community will consist of training opportunities and active communication with the director and coach of this program. This is also how you will be introduced to next steps in the program. Your participation in this stage of the program is on you. The more you engage, the more you will get out of the program. As a senior, you are an emerging adult and someone who will need to take responsibility and action to develop and grow. Taking full advantage is program is wise and will benefit you and your future.
Step Five
The training phase starts with an on-demand video series called Wire For Work. Topics addressed include Next Steps, Resume Development, Time Management, and Goal Setting. To maximize this opportunity, you will need to watch the videos on how to take your assessment results and create a Career Profile and how to research to develop some of the career options that come out of the assessment review meeting. For those seeking a job directly after high school, the resume development process will be very important. Any participating students who develop a resume during this program will be given the opportunity to email it to us for us to correct and share with our business partners (see step six).
Step Six
The final step involves potential shadowing and possible interview opportunities for those going straight into the workforce. We are developing a partnership with businesses. industries, and business organizations to create pathways to career opportunities in the River Region. Through these business partners, we will offer shadowing, and even potential interview opportunities, for students in the late spring and into the summer. As we develop an internal database for business partners to gain access to participating students’ resumes and shadowing requests, participating students will get to use the wisdom and insights learned through this program to maximize their future career potential.
